Organized Child Abuse

Background: Detroit News editor Nolan Finley wrote a scathing editorial on the state of Detroit Public Schools. He calls for drastic measures and I'm sure he'll be receiving flack from the usual suspects. Personally, I don't think his measures are drastic enough.

Nolan Finley’s call to shut down Detroit’s “dropout factories” doesn’t go far enough. Finley says Superintendent Connie Calloway should close failed schools and fire everyone in them. That’s a good start to getting on the road to recovery, but it does nothing to address the past. The “corrupt contractors, parasitic preachers and union do-nothings who have sucked the district dry” need to be charged with felony child abuse. The destruction these people have wrought on the lives of Detroit children is criminal.
