Hey Mary Sue, we said no. Twice.
Before public employee Mary Sue Coleman launches a legal crusade against the Michigan Constitution, she needs to consider a couple important points coming out of the election. First, 58% of the voters rejected her position on this issue born directly out of U-M’s focus on diversity rather than academics.
Second, an even larger number of voters (62%) rejected Proposal 5, which would have dramatically increased education funding. Voters recognize that schools such as U-M have not been good stewards of the public funding provided to them. A costly and publicly financed legal assault on the vote of the people will only reinforce this fact.
