Where's the outrage?
Recently a letter writer asked “Where’s the outrage?” over a laundry list of issues. I can’t be certain I know the answer, but it’s obvious where the rage exists. A small but vocal contingent of citizens with the well-deserved moniker “The Angry Left” continuously spews its extremist venom based solely on an intense, personal hatred for anyone and anything remotely associated with George W. Bush.
While a rational rebuttal of their claims of lies, abuse, and fascism is available and deserved, an attempt in this letter would be unavailing. The Angry Left’s intense hatred and rage cannot be placated with facts and reason. They want blood. Maybe they are blinded because they project themselves onto the people and issues they despise. Maybe they are deafened by the emotional shrillness of their arguments. Meanwhile, the majority of Americans properly dismisses their ranting.
Perhaps one day, the members of this sub-culture will wake up and realize they bring nothing of substance to the debate. Maybe they’ll set aside their rage and offer reasonable solutions to the problems facing this country and the world. Perhaps they can overcome their self-loathing and help this country continue to be the greatest in history.
