Background: Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick finally played the race card. Just wondering what took so long.

Perhaps the relationship between Detroit and the suburbs is getting better - it took Mayor Kilpatrick about 30 days before playing the race card. Kilpatrick’s tirade about a non-existent “unethical, illegal lynch-mob mentality” was standard fare from a politician whose lack of character and sense of privilege have been revealed in such a glaring fashion.

How fortunate that my recent multi-year assignment within the city of Detroit has come to an end and I will no longer be forced to pay 1.5% of my income to subsidize the mayor’s personal playground.
