Chugging some of Al Gore's Kool-Aid
Background: Sent the following letter in response to "Jesus is not returning" by John Bice, The State News' resident atheist. He attacked Christians while promoting his own cult.
John Bice enjoys ridiculing Christians for believing in myths and fairy tales. He claims Jesus was a false prophet because the end didn’t come as he claimed and his followers have been proven wrong. He calls on believers to "shed their puerile fantasies."
But like the Pharisees in the Bible, Bice casts his stones without first looking at himself. Bice claims he rejects religion as irrational, but that’s not exactly true. He has simply chosen to worship at a different altar – the one raised to environmental extremism.
Bice believes in such things as "energy independence" and "global climate change." Apparently he is much too busy looking for inconsistencies in the Bible while chugging Al Gore’s Kool-Aid to be bothered with the reality behind those issues.
To achieve energy independence would require the United States to stop using oil or ban the import and export of it. Oil is a global commodity affected by worldwide supply and demand. Even if we could produce enough domestically, the price would be affected by events around the globe. Replacing oil as the primary resource to fuel our world will require unprecedented leaps in technology. Given our track record in developing alternative energy, I wonder which will happen first - energy independence or the Second Coming.
As far as climate change, the "evidence" and "prophesies" promoted by global warming alarmists have more holes than the theories of evolution and intelligent design combined. Yet, Bice appears to have thrown his faith into this cult and accepted the alarmists’ preaching as, well, Gospel.
To quote Bice’s favorite antagonist, "Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?"
