Distorted sense of fairness
Mary Sue Coleman continues to have a distorted sense of fairness. According to her, since half the admissions for 2007 were considered using a discriminatory policy it’s only fair to discriminate against the other half too. I wonder if the students who will be denied admission because of U-M’s preference policies would agree.
In addition, her cry for more time rings hollow. When the Supreme Court ruled their undergraduate admissions program was unconstitutional, U-M managed to rewrite their policy within 45 days. This time should be even quicker. Simply cross out the portions that consider an applicant’s race or gender.
