Aldo and the SBT - Round 2

State Representative Aldo Vagnozzi’s latest letter provides further clarification on how he views elimination of the single business tax. According to Vagnozzi, if the SBT is not replaced we can expect “an immediate, drastic increase in college tuition and in medical care costs to individuals” due to the revenue decrease in the general fund.

This statement is quite revealing. Michigan’s general fund is used to pay for many programs including corporate welfare and “cool cities”. Rather than look to cut these foolish programs and implement reforms suggested by the Mackinac Center, Vagnozzi believes we would have to cut education and health care. Are his priorities wrong or does he just lack the creative thinking skills necessary to turn this state around?

Also in his last letter, Vagnozzi stated he believes he will “be around for another two years”. Unfortunately, given the current economic climate in this state many of us wonder if we’ll be around too.
