Ballot petitions hit goal - 01/06/05

Congratulations to the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) for completing the first step in their ballot access drive. MCRI supporters, gathering signatures in spite of physical intimidation and frivolous lawsuits, are moving Michigan forward toward the elimination of state-sanctioned racial discrimination. Unfortunately, many obstacles still remain including a well-funded opposition composed of interest groups benefiting from the preferences granted under the current laws. With MCRI's continued efforts, the voters of this state will be able to correct the mistakes of policy makers and judicial activists.
