Spend your money, not mine
Background: The Detroit and Belle Isle zoos want a tax subsidy. I already gave at the office.
The Observer correctly stated "these are tough times to ask taxpayers to approve yet another tax." Unfortunately, the newspaper proceeds to encourage support for yet another tax.
If voters want to support the Detroit and Belle Isle zoos, I strongly encourage each of them to reach into their own pocket and send a donation. In the meantime, keep your hands out of mine. I spend money on other institutions in the state of Michigan through contributions and attendance. Because these institutions provide services which I believe are important and noble, I support them.
If you believe the Detroit Zoo is worthy of your support, show that support with your money not mine.
