$7 Billion off? What's the big deal?
Background: In a letter to the editor, Aldo claims he and his merry band of Democrats have cut $4 billion in spending over the past 5 years. Unfortunately, them damn facts get in the way.
Once again State Representative Aldo Vagnozzi demonstrates his inability to grasp facts. In a recent letter contradicting Regina Watchel, Vagnozzi claimed the legislature cut spending by $4 billion in the last 5 years. However, Senate Fiscal Agency reports tell a different story. From 2001 to 2006, state spending increased by $3.1 billion from $38.7 billion to $41.8 billion.
How can we expect our legislators to fix the budget when they can’t tell the difference between a $4 billion decrease and a $3 billion increase?
