Kwame bars the door
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s defiance of the ban on race and gender preferences is not unexpected. Kilpatrick played his hand when he imitated George Wallace and declared “there will be affirmative action in the state forever.”
The mayor should know that following passage of a similar constitutional amendment in California, several cities ignored the law and continued with their preference programs. After wasting tax dollars fighting lawsuits, the cities were forced to comply by the state’s supreme court. But since Kilpatrick has never demonstrated himself to be a good steward of tax dollars in the past, this won’t mean much to him now.
