Rep. Rangel supports slavery

Rep. Charles Rangel’s (D-NY) plan to introduce a bill re-instating the draft is morally repugnant. Conscription is nothing less than involuntary servitude and no government has the right to enslave its people regardless of the cause. Only a volunteer army is consistent with the principles of individual liberty and justice. If Rangel opposes the war with Iraq, he should debate his colleagues and persuade them to withdraw. This is appropriate for a free society. Advocating slavery is not.
